Protective orders filed against Johnny Depp

The case has led to accusations from both sides, with Depp claiming that the allegations are fabricated and nothing more than an attempt to gain more money during the divorce.

The matter centers on an altercation between Depp and Heard that took place at one of their homes on May 21. An unidentified third party called police to the scene, but Heard made no mention of being physically harmed at the time, and the authorities left without noting any evidence of harm. Heard filed for divorce the following week, and a few days later approached the court to ask for a restraining order against her husband.

At that time, Heard told the judge that she has been subjected to multiple acts of domestic violence at the hands of her husband for the duration of their 15-month marriage and their relationship prior to taking their vows. She claimed that during the most recent argument, Depp threw a cell phone at her, striking her in the face and leaving bruises. As for Depp, he has released a statement denying the allegations of abuse, and stating that he believes that the claims are simply an attempt to extract more money from the divorce process.

The judge in the case did issue temporary protective orders, but refused to grant Heard’s request for temporary spousal support.
