It is not every day that a Colorado psychologist gets to decide when, where and how often a father will see his own children. However, that decision making responsibility has indeed been given to a family therapist in the child custody case of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Fans across the world have been closely following the former couple’s contentious situation, and the newest developments have to do with a temporary agreement that was forged in October.
Allegations of child abuse have been purported in Pitt’s direction by Jolie. As the battle over custody unfolded, however, both parents agreed to attend family therapy sessions with their children. Jolie, who has temporary custody of all six children, also agreed to allow Pitt supervised visits with the kids.
Documents regarding this particular case state that a psychologist whose specialty lies in child custody situations is the person behind the scenes determining how often, where and when Pitt is permitted to visit his children. In addition to that oversight, Pitt also agreed to be randomly tested for drugs and alcohol approximately four times per month. As it stands, the current arrangement is to remain in place unless Pitt and Jolie agree to something else.
The court has the ultimate decision making responsibility and may issue orders for a new agreement at any time. In high profile divorces involving high net worth assets and raging custody battles, it can be quite difficult to achieve amicable solutions in swift and economically feasible fashion. Whether in Colorado or some other state, any person concerned with such issues may speak to an attorney who has addressed similar problems for other affluent people. Generally speaking, much can be accomplished in a short amount of time when acting alongside an experienced family law attorney’s guidance.
